I have some very good friends who live in Papa New Guinea they are missionaries there.
The area they live in is very remote, they have to fly into town every few weeks to get supplies, (there is plane that comes into the village to take people to town and back)
Well this week the husband went into town and the wife stayed in the village, he went to get any mail that might have came as they are expecting packages that have things they need for their health needs and ministry.
None of those packages have arrived so far and they are now more than six months late.
Also there is a shortage of food and supplies in town, so the prices have increased for the things that are there. So he's not been able to get the supplies they need as of yet, he will be in town a few more days before going back into the village.
This is an elderly couple, please pray for their health, and that God will supply all of their needs.
Also pray about their vista's, those will need to be renewed by Dec, but as yet they have heard nothing.
Also if you'd like to learn more about them, I'll give you a link to a blog their daughter keeps for them. and then I'll post a portion of the email I recieved today, so you can see why this is a very serious prayer request. (they need food and the vitamins and nutritional suppliments they normally take for their health needs)
Also there is a need for workers in that area, and it is a very remote area.
http://owenaopportunity.weebly.com/youngs-blog.htmlGot into Goroka yesterday morning, 4 days early as that was the only plane I could get. I wasn’t able to get into the flat until afternoon, so I did some shopping. No mayonnaise, cheese, baking soda, or corn starch in town. Actually one store had a gallon jar of mayonnaise, so I got that. Other things too not available, and prices have gone up again on a lot of things.
“I started this this morning, but I went out with the other missionaries so that I could get around town in their car. It is now 6 P.M. Didn’t find a whole lot. The Bran Flakes we were getting went from K15 to K25. I didn’t get any. They did have All Bran for K20, so I got some of that.
“No packages have arrived. We did get an envelope with pictures, mail, and a flash drive in it. Don’t know what Mom will do without supplements. One pharmacy had vitamin C for K254. I didn’t get it. Cough drops were K20 for 24 of them. I didn’t get any.”
To give you an idea of how much these things are costing, the pngbd website lists the current exchange rate as .462. At this exchange rate, the things Dad listed will cost the following:
Bran Flakes - $11.55
All Bran - $9.24
Cough drops - $9.24 for 24 cough drops
Vitamin C - $117.35 (kind of makes our supplements look cheap)
(this was from one of their daughters, she sent this to me this morning)
Please do pray for this couple they are nearly seventy years old, they are basically the only Christian workers in the area where they are, and this is a very difficult field, the people there have only been in contact with the outside world since the 1970's, and this area is filled with people who actively practice witchcraft, along with a lot of other things that are just not good, the government there is corrupt and basically it's not an easy field to work in,
