Lovely family!

I got to go out with a couple of friends last sunday and one of them admitted she was a heroine addict! (Because of the context i knew the spelling!) She has always dreamed of living on property with horses, chickens, maybe a few other animals, and growing a large garden so she'd be able to bless others with her abundance. (Good and lofty ambition, right?)

She pursued opportunities, even when they were difficult to manage - and now they are deeply in debt, might lose their house, one horse has died and the other is blind. Their garden has been eaten or otherwise failed - weather, placement, etc.

It's been a great learning experience for them but caused unnecessary hardship. They do live in a beautiful place, tho', so maybe it's all been worth it.

The thing is, she is "addicted" to living the "larger" life. She homeschools a challenging student with Asperger's. She gets herself entangled in homeschool "co-op" groups and also public school" after school" programs because her son is in sports in the school. The sports in and of themselves have her running all over the place - karate, basketball, football practices and games. And she's a very hands-on parent.

We've tried to be friends, we ARE friends, but she has no time for anything. Until sunday. :) She was adamant that her 14yo son go home with dad and work on the chicken coop and fixing the lawnmower while SHE just went off with us.

:? I think i got off track.
