 I've been using my mom's blood pressure cuff to monitor my #'s once in awhile and i was "lookin' good"! And then dh tried it. He said it was so off and to prove it he got his own. He is diabetic (type 2) and has heart issues as well so he has to track these things.

On HIS blood pressure cuff i was at 169/92! That is NOT good! Anything over 140/90 is considered high blood pressure. Mom's was showing i was at 110/65!! That means SHE is going by a false reading, too. Tomorrow we will have her take her BP with dh's cuff. I almost hate to do it because she is feeling SO GOOD! But we want her to have the facts, at least.

As for me.... i intend to do something about it - diet and exercise which i have been inconsistent with at best and totally abandoning on most days. :(

After being "good" for 2 days my BP is down to a decent number. It varies so much within minutes it's hard to know which to go by. I took it 3x this morning and got 148/87; 153/84; 145/82. Mayo Clinic says, "If you're a healthy adult age 60 or older, your treatment goal is less than 150/90 mm Hg." So, i think i'm ok. I just need to continue doing what i know to do.

I'm also down 1 1/2 lb in 2 days!

Make sure your arm is propped up on a pillow or arm rest. I was taking mine with my arm down, hand in lap and I thought I was dying!

I was just taking it wrong. :?
