We never hear sirens here! I can also hear "big honking" like maybe the train? It's so weird. Hmmmm. "I'll never have a moments rest" til i find out what's going on!

Oh my! It used to be so quiet here, too. I miss my small town. Now the city is moving closer and closer. And it's bringing crime and traffic with it,
:(
We hear ambulances, police, and helicopters almost daily now. Traffic on our road is crazy... The 18 wheelers come down our little dirt road only to have to turn around at the dead end and drive back. It's a dead end road and clearly marked but they don't read that, or don't believe it, because the GPS says go this way so they do!!

The first thing I do when I hear sirens going down the main road is pull up google maps on my phone with it showing traffic and see if there is red anywhere. Wrecks are our most common cause of sirens here. The closest volunteer fire department siren can be heard but usually it is them doing a test rather than a real alarm.

We were just saying last night that it would be nice to have a scanner that could pick up the fire and rescue so we could tell what was going on!

Speaking of sirens! They were all just across the street at my neighbors. :(

Carol, there is an online scanner.. I'll try to find it. I was listening to the fire rescue during g the Gatlinburg fires, and to the evacuation process at the Oroville Damn.
