I forget where I first saw the above video, (forgive me if it was on here somewhere, but I cannot find it) but I was reminded of it today. My local library sent me an invitation to "tackle childhood literacy" - really? I thought literacy was a GOOD thing!

Too funny. No wonder there's so much confusion - nobody speaks the same language!

I have to admit, when DD reads the "magazine" covers in the supermarket checkout, I kinda wish she WAS illiterate, sometimes (for a fleeting second, anyway). But I don't expect a professional librarian to take that attitude! ; )

Lol, I wonder if any of those people automatically corrected him in their head and thought he must mean literate, not illiterate. They probably didn't, but I know I do that sometimes. I cringed at how they just filled their personal information on that sheet, without barely looking at it. I am the annoying person that would be asking a bunch of questions and reading everything and I still wouldn't give out my birthdate.

For some reason, this reminded me of how my kids are always saying the opposite of what they mean. Dd always says inflate, when she means deflate and stuff like that. Tomato instead of potato, etc. Which has nothing to do with this video because he did it on purpose, but it just reminded me of that.

Yeah. I know a 10yo that "sanitizes" his chickens. (hypnotizes) ;-) And my dh, who is no dummy, often messes up words. Still, it's like the dyslexic group that has the battle cry of "UNTIE!". ;)
