Hi folks,
I am a new-to-homeschooling mom with 4 kids - ages 6,5, 3.5 & 18 mths.
We have been living in Cambodia for a year and in between language lessons and ministry, I have started to homeschool our two eldest children. My son went to public school for 2 months before we left Canada. He turned 5 shortly after we arrived and my daughter turned 4 shortly after we arrived thus I haven't been too concerned about following anything too strictly, especially because so much was happening in their/our lives at the time.
Now however, I need to be more organized and get a curriculum and do set times for things and I am feeling completely overwhelmed!! There are so many great resources but I don't even know where to begin.
I guess the first thing I need advice on is curriculum. I've been doing units and researching sites and getting ideas on pinterest and trying to find a comprehensive list of things each grade should know but it's exhausting!
I would like something that is faith based and interactive. I suspect different curriculums cater to different learning styles (???). We definitely prefer a hands on approach. Whichever we choose, it has to be easily accessible and cheap! I don't know how curriculums work but we really love to work on units and incorporate the different subjects into those units. I think ideally we would like a curriculum that has online resources (like media) so we can follow along without having to ship a bunch of DVD's or other materials overseas.
Secondly, I would so very much appreciate some links to resources. The sheer number of sites that come up when you google homeschooling resources overwhelms me completely! haha I've been pinteresting all kinds of things and printing them off but I'd love to find one or two sites that have a lot of worksheets (free!) so I don't have to bounce around all over the internet.
Ok, this ended up much longer than I planned but would really appreciate some input
