The answers are interesting, but only raise more questions, lol!
One says to make sure they are pollinated... even going to the length of doing their own hand pollination. However, if they weren't being pollinated, how are the blooms even producing squash? I thought if they weren't pollinated, there'd be NO fruit.
Then they are sayin look for bugs that are killing the blooms, again.. I'm getting blooms plenty of them. They ARE turning into squash, but then they dry up and fall off before they get very big. (smaller than thumb size.)
and another says water. I water twice a day on hot days, once a day in the mornings on cooler days. I dont' water on days we get rain.
SO the mystery deepens.
PS: my mom was just here so I asked her to look at the plants. She says they look like they need more nutrients. I told her that I had put plant food on them. However, I did not furtilize the soil before planting. Now I'm wondering if that's the problem.
