All of the g*y issues aside.. I'm shocked.. SHOCKED!!! That in this economy ANY city mayor would not want a legitimate business to come to their city.

Mr. Mayor, do you enjoy spending tax money for unemployment, food stamps, welfare???

The mayor of Chicago is also trying to exclude business on the basis of the private beliefs of a business owner.

Just think about what happened when Chicago tried to exclude Wal-Mart. They opened a store just across the border in a neighboring suburb and thousands of people applied for jobs and it became a really successful/popular store. I hope they do that in Boston and Chicago.

PR head of ChickFilA has died of a heart attack.

When will the media figure out that cyber-bullying really DOES hurt people?

Did he already have heart problems or was the stress of this particular situation the cause of the heart attack in and of itself?

The article didn't say- but quite often the two work together. Someone with preexisting heart problems can be pushed over the edge by the chemicals the body releases during extreme stress.

So sad about the PR head, and even sadder to think that all this might have had something to do with it.

It's unbelievable how out of control the whole thing has gotten. It's funny because I think Chick Fil A was already known for having "old fashioned" values. I don't know if they every came out and said anything like the recent statement, but I have known for awhile that they were pro-family and everything and I thought that was pretty well known, so I am a little surprised people are so surprised by it. I think it's not so much that they're surprised, but that they're mad that they have stayed consistent and unapologetic and haven't backed down from the bullying. It reminds me of the interview with Kirk Cameron, where they asked him why he would make the comments he does and he said that he has always said the same thing and remained consistent with his beliefs over the years, so why should people be surprised. They should be surprised if he said something different than he'd been saying over the years.

I have believed for awhile that it will become illegal to be against homosexuality, period. I just didn't think it would happen so fast and so soon. The ones preaching tolerance are becoming more and more intolerant. This stuff with Chick Fil A is just plain persecution. That mayor of Chicago said that Chick Fil A doesn't speak for the city of Chicago. What an arrogant statement. HE'S speaking for the whole city when he says that, but he can't say that because there are many people who are still pro traditional family, about half of Americans. So he's completely brushing them aside when he says something like that and only acknowledging the pro gay people in the city. This is part of their bullying. Those who are against it don't count because we're just intolerant bigots and those who accept it are the good guys. To say "You're not welcome in this city" is just so selfish. What about the people who DO want them in the city? Who does he think he is, to only represent a small population and completely leave out and ignore the rest of the city? What an aweful mayor.

He also said that Chick Fil A needs to remain neutral and just sell chicken. While I agree with the neutral part when it comes to all businesses, he is insinuating that Chick Fil A is discriminating against it's customers and that's obviously not true. They are not questioning each person that comes in and turning people away if they don't agree with their beliefs or lifestyle. They sell food to anyone and everyone. So, no one has a problem with anything they're doing, just with their beliefs. So it's just plain persecution and the level it has gone to is ridiculous.
