I've been reading that if you do this it's better for pets, it's cheaper than rock salt, etc. But, is it? And why do they always specify "Dawn" dishsoap?!
For icy steps and sidewalks in freezing temperatures, mix 1 teaspoon of Dawn dish washing liquid, 1 tablespoon of rubbing alcohol, and 1/2 gallon hot/warm water and pour over walkways. They won’t refreeze

In your climate, maybe. This does not in any way work where it gets zero or lower.

You can make gel packs out of it, too. You keep those in the freezer and they don't freeze! ??
