Wow - can't imagine raising a kid to be like this! Yet, apparently, this is the modern norm- at least according to this study : (

Can't do it. Too many blocks thruout. Something about digitalized kids not having an attention span greater than a goldfish? hehe I agree the brain is changing because of the way things are now. Good? Bad? I don't like it because i think we will crash and people will have to figure out how to do it the "old-fashioned" way but meanwhile.... i dunno!

I really don't know what this is about, tho'!!! :lol:

Weird about the blocks! I don't see any on mine!

The general gist of it is that

"The average attention span for the notoriously ill-focused goldfish is nine seconds, but according to a new study from Microsoft Corp., people now generally lose concentration after eight seconds,"

"“Heavy multi-screeners find it difficult to filter out irrelevant stimuli — they’re more easily distracted by multiple streams of media,” the report read."
(I would have expected younger folks to become immune to these interruptions, but apparently they are instead becoming more succeptible!)

"Microsoft theorized that the changes were a result of the brain’s ability to adapt and change itself over time and a weaker attention span may be a side effect of evolving to a mobile Internet."

and, the younger you are, the worse it is

And then, there was a congratulatory note if you managed to keep reading for the 1 1/2 minutes or so required to complete the whole article (maybe 300 words, at most?) :roll:

I've observed with many kids resources - both online and book & magazine form, that there is NO flow to them at all. No narrative, no story. Just constant interruptions with little boxes and memes and quotes. I try to avoid stuff that is that way, at least to some extent. I want DD's attention span to GROW with education - not shrink!
