Hi all.
I was going to either allow my child a good public school or private for Elementary and home-school for middle school.

I thought because he was bored part of last year I would home-school for a year in elementary school. Then! He was hating it and having fits. He had a fit because he just had to go to "his [public] school and said he does not like homeschooling and he thinks homeschooling is for little children not big kids"

He is in school.

He then wanted to home-school for a couple of days because he said it was boring and I said are to stay where you are for now and he is fine.

However, a. I want to recapture his mind because he is paying attention to his peers a lot, b. he loves to play some video games a lot, c. he is an only-child and we stay in an apartment, and thus, no outside for us.

I seem to have an opposite problem. I want him to want to be home and I do not want him to fall into the school thing because he is smart and respectful but his friends are not that great.

Thanks for your help

In my honest opinion, don't let the child decide. You as parents or yourself as the only parent decide after much prayer. Then, tell little one what its going to be.

Then do it.

If you do homeschool, find a local support group, or home school co-op so he'll have other children to be around. Boredom is part of life. He can't expect constant entertainment and you shouldn't go crazy keeping him entertained. This is in any schooling situation. As for video games, set rules and stick to them. My SIL only allowed her public schooled kids to be on video games on weekends. The downside was they didn't want to interact at sll on weekends because that was their gaming time... Even passing up pool parties and park days with cousins. But that was their family's rule.

You could allow so much time per day, after school is finished. Set a timer, or have him earn play time.

Take time to get it all settled in your mind and heart as to what's right for your child. Then do it. Some families do a year trial of home schoolong before committing to it long haul. But that's just another option to consider.
