My Little One asked at Church last night how our Mosaic Icons are made. Does anyone know a link to a good video on mosaic-making? (Preferably Church mosaics) TIA : )

I don't know of a link, but there are some cool mosaic kits you can buy at craft stores that look like fun. I think we will do a couple this year and then maybe try it on our own without a kit.

Those do look like a lot of fun : ) Maybe one day we'll do one. We do need to have more "art classes" because Little One loves it!

The mosaics at Church are so beautiful. Little One asked last night, "How do they make a Church?" I thought she meant the building, but she meant the mosaics. She said, "Glue? Tape?" I'm hoping to show her the work in progress. It's great when you can watch the work in a new Church, but no such opportunities right now.

I have a cd I found at the library on the history of the Orthodox church.. I'll watch it and let you know if they show that.

I'm on my Nook and don't know how to post links, but on You Tube there is a 2 part video that may help. It's called "Religious Mosaic and Stained Glass".

The link you suggested is GREAT, Lisa. I don't know yet if Little One will get much out of it (she's napping right now), but *I* loved it! : )

The Icons look almost identical to the ones in our Church - except the writing in in Russian instead of Greek. If not for that, I would have thought they were the same ones! I never envisioned a factory floor full of artists - I had this naive Michaelangelo-painting-the-Sistine-Chapel-alone vision of it all. :roll: Shows how much I know about the art world. :lol:
