I know we've discussed Magic Treehouse on here before, it's nice historical fiction but very secular & often has a magic element that can be a little troubling.
Well, just yesterday, I found this book on Amazon (the Kindle edition was free yesterday, 1.26 today - tomorrow - who knows?)
http://www.amazon.com/Voyage-Vikings-Im ... he+vikingsIt's EXCELLENT historical fiction for kids. DD just devoured nearly 1/2 a book in one sitting! The books are a spin-off of "Adventures in Odyssey" - but this book is about the Vikings. Did you know that Leif Erickson (the one who discovered North America before Columbus) was a *Christian*? Yeah, - I didn't either.
I LOVE how this series is fascinating to kids, and edge-of-the-seat read, good history (lite - like Magic Treehouse - not academically rigorous - but great to whet the appetite for more history), and distinctively Christian!
I've also checked, and our library has many other books in this series. I'm looking forward to hearing DD read more to me : )
Check them out if you're looking for good reading, history & Christian values all combined!
