As she read a short story from the Children's Bible, she has them draw their "interpretation" of the story. Then, when she was done reading, they would each "come to the front of the class" and tell everyone what their picture meant. She then saved all of their artwork in a folder so as relatives and friends came over, they would bring out their notebook to show everyone. She said that way they "sat" still while she reading, and they were truly paying attention.
