My nine year old is doing reading, science and math. What else should she be doing? Any suggested curricula to use?

I like this site for an annual overview

I'm not a packaged curriculum sort of person - so I'll let someone else suggest that : )

What about history? State History? Bible? With the reading, are you incorporating any kind of grammar? Grammar...Rod & Staff. Science...Apologia. I know you have the math part. :) History?

I'm not looking for a packaged curriculum. I am willing to pull something together. I have been doing this for a whole 6 days now, and I don't know what is out there.

I find it quite easy to look at the world book list & go to the library and get a book at the appropriate reading level on content courses. (history, science, geography, etc)

For skills courses (reading, writing), you really can't beat McGuffey -after phonics & until you've mastered them. And, they're free online texts if you don't already have a copy.

I'm assuming you don't need help on math ; )

I don't need help in math for my youngest. The next two already have text books. My ex won't give me the text for the 17 year old.

(And she lurks on this forum. Somehow, SOMEHOW she will find a way to use this against me in court.)

I'd definitely have her doing history. Here are some ideas.

These would make a good spine:

These are also good:

Living books are the best in my opinion.

http://www.uhea.org/utah-s-homeschooling-laws/exemption

Law in your state requires you to teach the same subjects as public school. (Our state law has a list - including *fire prevention*! - but apparently your state expects you to figure out what subjects public schools in your area teach)

I'm assuming that as a minimum you'll need to add Social Sciences (including history), Phys Ed, and Art and music - and perhaps health - to comply with a typical school set of courses.

My daughter loved Apologia science kits.

for 4th grade I see geography recommended, would be fun to incorporate field trips.
