Those are two very different critters!!! Haven't used Explode the Code, but Sequential Spelling can definitely be miraculous for those who have problems spelling -- especially dyslexia.

We use ETC. My son is doing wonderfully with it, but I can't compare it to Sequential Spelling because I haven't use it. I didn't really think of ETC as a spelling program though. I thought it was a phonics/learn to read program.

I found Sequential Spelling cheap on ebay so we have started that. I guess it is very different from ETC! I was looking and reading about both, trying to find something that would help my ds who is still struggling some with reading.

I got the SS since I found it cheap and since I needed something for spelling anyway. It seems to make sense to him and he enjoys doing it. He is already spelling words I never expected him to be able to do yet, since his spelling has not been great and he is still struggling with reading. I am hoping this will help reading make more sense when he sees words. So far it seems to be.

links to free online sources for the following: phonics, grammar, handwriting, spelling, math and reading (Scroll down for the topics)

I used Webster's Blue Backed Speller with my youngest and it did wonders for her spelling. Prior to that we did copywork and I tried The Natural Speller. She loved ETC at first but it grew tedious and repetitious so I had to find something more challenging.
