Hi! We are considering homeschooling our kiddos (4th & 7th) for a few years. We are not interested in homeschooling for the rest of their school years. Is there anyone out there who has done something similar to this? Any help would be appreciated-thank you!

Hi Cally! Welcome! I know a lot of folks who just homeschooled for a period of time and then sent the kids back to the classroom (public or private.) It is very easy at the younger ages (before high school.) The only drawback is that usually the kids are WAY ahead. LOL. Sometimes the kids skip a grade.

Now, at the high school level, you'll have to see how your local school district or private school handles that. I've seen people get a hard way to go but that has generally been when the student was pulled out of high school for a year and then wanted to go back (usually for grade or discipline issues.) Most of the time, the counselor asks for some placement testing and then lets the student sign up for classes.

Keep in mind that any classroom school is getting paid VERY WELL to have your student there so they are anxious to have them back. The dollar signs in their eyes will keep you from having too many problems with them.

Was getting them back into school after homeschooling your primary question? Just let us know. We're here to help. :0)

I am sorry I need more info.
I know that several ladies here have homeschooled for a few years and put their kids back into school.
Why just a few years?
I never regreted taking my DD out and homeschooling her all the way through.
They will have to take a placement test.
Most schools will not place them a head in grades even though they qualify , but what them in grades with their same age peers.
find out what your school district will require of you when you do put them back into public school.

Thank you for the feed back-and the questions. There are no discipline problems or grade problems they are both doing great (straight A's and A/B's for the younger). We can foresee some issues if we can't get a handle on them now, but...

The basic reason is to give them a rest from the world and build them up spiritually so that they can go and be that light that God calls them to be.

There is also a large community of homeschoolers in my area. There are 3 girls on my daughters BB Team alone that are hs.

I will definately start the conversation with the school to see what will be required of me/kids. Both to start and finish.
Thanks again!
Cally

http://www.classicalconversations.com/ Hi Cally. My youngest is in the 8th grade program, and my daughter just completed the past two years. She is in community college now.
