We are lucky that we live close by to our state capitol. The Texas Home School Coalition sponsers Capitol Days
http://www.thsc.org/ItemForm.aspx?Item= ... 40ff79ddd4Usually it starts off with a picnic on the Capitol lawn followed by sessions with the legislators. They have a packet of information to be used by homeschoolers for the citizenship requirement. It involves getting involved. Get to know your councilmen, county commissioners, state and US congressmen. My oldest dd volunteered for a former Mayor in her bid for state comptroller (she won), then for a first time Rep. rep for our district (he won). We also volunteered for Victory 2000 (seems like eons ago in another world now). We got involved by getting to know our precinct chair.
