I have a friend who is thinking about using Five in a Row for her 6yod and 3yos sitting in on as his attention span allows. Has anyone here used it? If so, what did you like vs. not like about it?
Thank you.

We used it when the kids were little. It's GREAT! The idea is to read the same picture book five days in a row, each day emphasizing something different and doing activities that spin off from the book. It's fun and gentle. :0)

Our most favorite homeschool memories are from FIAR!!!!!!
We never read the book more than once a week. DD wouldn't tolerate that. DS probably would have since he liked to repeat things. For the book Madeline we did math and home-ec by baking a cake that looked like Madeline's hat. We studied French architecture and watched travel videos about France. My kids adore the books they read and all of the things we did really stand out in their minds and my daughter is now going on 17.
FIAR.com has great message boards that come with lots of ideas on how to expand on the books. I most definitely recommend it. I was very sad when I sold my books.

I have been using FIAR with my 4 youngest children. We will be starting our 3rd year with it this fall. We LOVE it! I wish I would have used it for my older children when they were small. It is very gentle and flexible and yet they are learning and retaining so much. A fond memory of mine is last winter, when my then 4 year old, told a waitress that that was the Eiffel Tower on his kids menu and it was in Paris just like the Louvre! The look on her face was priceless! We had studied Madeline more than a month before this. It gets a big thumbs up here. I am saving all our FIAR books and manuals to pass on to my grandbabies.

We used FIAR when we first started homeschooling and have wonderful memories of using it. I'm going to be using it with my grandson next year.

Savannah loved FIAR for K. Very user friendly.
