Hello! We are a family of 6 with a 7, 5, 3 and 1 yo and are considering homeschooling our children. I would love a flexible, creative program that is Bible based but that organizes everything for me and tells me what to do each day. I would probably add or subtract on days that called for it (if they were really into a certain topic and wanted to stay on it rather than continue to a new one) but knowing our busy days and all that goes on I need the simplicity of an organized complete curriculum.
I have researched SonLight and My Father's World and am leaning towards MWF b/c it seems to have way more postive reviews but would love some feedback from some of you who may have been in this situation before. THANK YOU!!! I am excited to dive into this season if God has it planned for us. It is a little terrifying thinking of how we will do this with small preschoolers and toddlers involved so any advice regarding that would also be appreciated! :D

Hi, just want to say WELCOME! I have only been homeschooling a few years. I am using MFW for my 4th grade boy and LOVE it. We switched from Heart of Dakota this year to MFW and it is a better fit for us. I need a curriculum planned out for me. I am not the creative type that can do it on my own. It is very flexible and user friendly. You can skip something when you need to without feeling like you have blown the plan. It is very Bible oriented and has fun hands on things. I only have the one child homeschooling, but if I had multiple children to teach, I think I would like how the MFW teaches them together as they get older. That would make it easier on mom! The cost was also manageable. I have no experience with Sonlight so I can't compare but we are loving MFW and I so wish I had started with MFW in the beginning. There were some more detailed reviews of MFW on the old format message board here, maybe we can get a link to that posted for you.

It is kind of slow on the weekends here sometimes but I'm sure you'll get plenty more welcomes and advice soon! Lots of very knowledgeable and experienced folks here who are glad to answer your questions, so ask away. Welcome to the world of homeschooling. It is the best decision we ever made for our family!

Here is a link to the Reviews page on the old board. There are several posts about MFW for several levels. Hope this helps! I also like reading through the message board at MFW site.

Welcome!

I can't help because I'm the kind of person who likes to put my own curriculum together - but just wanted to say "Welcome!"

Thank you both! I am feeling like MWF is the answer for us but I would love to see other suggestions. We are waiting and praying for now! ; )

Welcome!! My children were the same ages when we started! If I had to do it over again, I would do Five In a Row, and then spend a ton of time doing hands-on things. You just don't need a hefty curriculum at young ages, and the kids learn more when they are actually doing something.
Take a look at our early education page. You'll find a review of Five in a Row and suggestions for homeschooling free.

MFW was one of my favorite choices during our homeschool years. If I were to do it over again I'd definitely go that route again. Wonderful memories!
