Learning Russian! I love what learning desires homeschooling can bring out in a child. :D 8-)

What program is he using. My dd is learning Japanese and we are looking for a great program, not just one to play around with. She's very serious about learning it.
How is your ds doing?? How far has he gotten?
I love languages! I wish I had the brain for it. I still struggle with basic Spanish, lol!

He is just looking at stuff online. He is finding free programs on his own. I want to get him a good program though. I am not sure which one. He knows the letters and can count.

Ask him if he'd be willing to share some of these free websites with my dd, if they have Japanese.

That's wonderful!!!!
I remember my oldest when she had a whim to learn Gaelic, and ordered a program and taught herself the language.

Darla had a great website that was like a language "cafe" where you could meet people and converse with them on a discussion board or through posts. It's been several years since I saw it, but it was certainly a neat idea. You might want to check with her to see if she remembers the name of it.

Learning languages through immersion (being surrounded by that language on a regular basis, either in person or via internet) to learn is the fastest way to learn and I highly recommend it. I had some 2nd cousins who knew Gaelic who were able to converse with our daughter and she really caught on quickly.

He said the sites he used were specifically for Russian. You can google free Japanese lessons and it will probably come up.
