OH, I LIKE that! : )

Sounds SO much better than "tomato soup!"

:D

(Really, my elementary school's lunches have traumatized me for life on some foods! DD doesn't know how blessed she is to never have to eat a "school lunch"!)

School lunches were SO much better than my mom's cooking! LOL I loved school lunches but, admittedly, i stuck to the few i knew i liked - hamburger gravy over rice, turkey gravy over mashed potatoes - or vice versa? Hot dogs. :)

Ahh - but my school was quite Dickensian. They wouldn't accept federal funding for school lunches, but still tried to offer the food at the same price. It was EXCEPTIONALLY bad!

Rather like this:

They forced us to eat it. Once a student dared to throw up his portion. He was served a second helping and forced to eat that, too.

It was *really* *really* bad. And there was no "choice" to stick to - one menu per day. Even the pizza was horrible.

You had pizza!?! My mom, bless her heart, always packed our lunch. On the rare occasions she made us buy lunch it was okay. I remember hamburgers, hot dogs, spagetti, beefaroni, chicken n dumplings, macaroni n cheese, turkey and mashed potatoes. No pizza :( I was the weird kid who would trade kids my cookies for their spinach. Sometimes I didn't have to trade anything, they would just let me have it :)

They *called* it pizza.

It was decidedly NOT pizza.

In fact, thanks to them, I hated pizza for most of my childhood - thinking that "pizza" meant "THAT HORRIBLE STUFF"

They served soup in styro cups. one day they served tomato soup, and we all threw our cups in the trash. The next day they served chicken noodle soup in styro cups - complete with tomato stains and teeth marks in the cups
