Everything I have tried here is excellent, desserts, entrees, etc. I just tried his vegan tomato soup.

http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/onion-tomato-soup

I went ahead and caramalized the onions. I used fresh celery instead of celery salt and added a small sliced carrot.

I like Taste of Home, too! They always have great ideas : )

Unfortunately, I've never been able to get past my childhood dislike of Tomato Soup, tho : (

I don't like it either. My dh did... And my dd inherited it from him! It's sort of comforting seeing her enjoy a bowl. :)

One time I was in a restaurant and very hungry - and the ONLY vegetarian choice was tomato soup. I ordered it out of desperation - thinking it was better than starving. But, as it happened, it was homemade and delicious!

Even so, I still can't get past the term "tomato soup" - too many ugly childhood memories of that dreadful canned stuff!

I think they should think up a new name for the good stuff ; )

Homemade is awesome. Canned soup is not fit for human consumption. My ds turned my soup into Pita-pizza sauce by adding Italian turkey sausage.
