Lol

Remember beans are in meals like minestrone soup, pasta e fagioli, hummus, burritos...So it's just not beans and rice. I make a yellow rice that I add beans and veg to, like hoppin John with black eyed peas.[/quote]

Oh no! Not with MY dh! He basically says "nothing that is fattening"! Huh? He doesn't want pasta or potatoes or bread on the menu. I'm already pushin' it with the extra veggies and FRUIT! Oh my!

Maybe he (and you) would find McDougall's MWL plan helpful.

I've read about 1/2 way thru and it sounds like what we're doing! ... Until i got to the part about not eating fatty foods. :( Nuts, olives, avocado - no! I will take the point to heart, tho', and limit them.

I have that book
https://www.amazon.com/McDougall-Progra ... eight+loss

Dh bought several copies for 1ยข and shipping. He would give them away, I had to hide mine. It's about real food. Pasta is not a real food in that it's a refined, processed flour product, you are right. But a potato has come out of the ground. In the Caribbean and Latin American countries we have lots of different root veggies that are starchy. So there is a variety. Yucca is one. I like to boil them with a clove of garlic, mmm. It's also called cassava and they come frozen already peeled.

Look at the plate descriptions in the article Anna linked.

I made garbanzo bean soup last night. Added diced butternut squash, quartered potatoes, peppers-onion-garlic base, cilantro, a few Spanish olives and fresh diced tomatoes. Oh, and smoked paprika.
