I'm supposed to drink a bunch of cranberry water. You mix 1/2 c cranberry juice (not the sweet stuff) with 28 oz water BUT..... I see NOW (after I mixed it and drank a cup) that I'm supposed to mix the JUICE, not the CONCENTRATE. I've only ever seen the concentrate so was thinking that was what I was to use. Now I see that it does come as juice. How do I "fix" the rest of my quart?

I know it's a simple math problem but my head can't wrap around it! My bottle of concentrate doesn't even tell me how to reconstitute it! :(

"Each 8 fl oz. bottle can be combined with 24 fl oz. of water to make 32 fl oz. of 100% juice."

32 oz is 8 cups - or 16 batches for your recipe. So you added 1/4 ounce too much water to each batch.

You added an extra 4 oz - making 36 oz. Then you removed 8 oz, bringing you down to 28 oz. of slightly watery juice.

Take 1/2 cup (4 oz) of THAT and treat it like Juice. - but add 27 3/4 oz to each 1/2 cup instead of 28 oz.

(someone please check my math if you feel so inclined - it's not my strong suit)

It took me a few HOURS to be able to comprehend what you wrote. I see where my confusion came in. To reconstitute it uses the same instructions as I have to make the cran-water FROM the juice. My brain was hitting a loop of 4 oz to 28 oz and going back to my messup thinking NO, that was wrong. sheesh

Anyways, I got ahold of Anne Louise Gittleman herself and asked her and she said I only need to use about 1-2T of concentrate per quart of water. She said it's in her book but, unless it's somewhere else in the book, she must be referring to a different book. ?? But, I got my answer. I've only drank water since that huge dose of cran, tho'!

Glad you found an answer!

(If you make your explanation of math confusing enough, no one can catch your mistakes! ; )
