I was just thinking how I'd almost cheat for a bowl of clam chowder. Dh and I used to go on a friday date - clam chowder and cribbage. We went a couple of times when we started vegan but the veggie sandwiches aren't really up to snuff against Becky's clam chowder! :?

So I tho't I'd google vegan clam chowder and I found a few! With Lisa's recommendation for a Fork Over Knives recipe I think I'll try theirs. It sure looks good! 8-)

Oh wait! It's Forks and Beans not Forks Over Knives. I'm beginning to read like the men in my family! LOL

Sounds little scary - where do they find vegan clams?

(I got some 'skallops' in a can many years ago - they smelled so horrible when I opened the can that I couldn't bear to try them - so vegan seafood scares me now!)

You'll have to let us know how it turns out : )

Fake clams would be very scary!!! It uses mushrooms - "oyster" or shiitake or "whatever". I'll have to try it by the recipe first but I want to get away from the flour and fake butter for the thickness. I wonder how Briva's cheese sauce would work? :)

Interesting thought : )

I like the mushroom idea -that's WAY better than fake clams! : )

Tapioca starch is a good thickener that gives an oil-like "mouthfeel" I use it for stir fries & for salad dressings. It might help your soup, too!

Yeah, maybe. It h as potatoes in it so I tho't just blending a bit would thicken it up. As much soup as I make you'd think I'd have the science down by now. ;-)

BTW - bleh. I dumped the leftovers, I tho't it was that bad. Everyone was polite and ate it without saying anything. The garlic bread with it was what got us thru. Everything was good until the milk went in. Maybe half the milk, or real milk?, but it was just too milky.
