A new split pea soup recipe.

You put your split peas in lotsa water with a bay leaf and dry mustard and boil. Meanwhile you cut up garlic, celery, carrots and potatoes. At the end, before serving, you put fresh ground pepper and red wine vinegar in it and top it with diced tomato and cilantro/parsley.

I'll try it this way and then add liquid smoke to any leftovers. Seems like it would need the smoke. ??

And SALT. I'm SURE it will need SALT!

I like Briva's idea of smoked paprika for smokey flavor, too : )

Well, it was yummy! We tried all the "extras" but will only need the pepper, red pepper flakes and the smoked paprika in the future. The tomatoes didn't really "go" with the flavors, in our opinions and the other stuff was simply unnecessary. Maybe if I made it for company I'd put everything out.
