So basically, if you're online, your brain is on its way out. Great.
I was very comforted that more than 1/3 of electronics users are online before they get out of bed. I'm not setting THAT curve, at least : )
I do think they should break down the types of internet usage a little. A person who is doing online academic research probably doesn't have the same brain damage as the person who is playing fb games, IMO.
We completely disabled texting on our phones, so someone else is getting my 400 average texts/month!

And yet... there are how many thousands of people out there with careers that are based around computer usage and other electronic devices that do not crack, that can think clearly, that aren't having issues.
We have to be so careful with studies like this. You have to do the research behind the researchers. Do they have an agenda they are pushing with such information? Are they also taking into consideration that there could be other factors that could be causing such issues in people such as: lack of good sleep, good nutrition or lack there of... Do video games for instance create problems or are they just one part of a persons life and you truly have to consider the whole of their life to see what may or may not be significant.
I don't play video games (purely because they do not interest me), I use the computer very minimally compared to many, I watch tv less than most probably and yet, I have memory issues, I have disconnected thinking processes too often for my liking, I don't twitter, I don't do a lot of texting... Where would I fit in such studies? Mine is probably the fact that I am a busy mom, who is nearing menopause, who is low on iron and ?? who knows what.
Now, the guy they discussed in the article was in a circumstance that is probably quite rare (they even stated such) and his could have been overload and stress related. We don't know if he ate properly, slept enough... during the time this all took place. Do we vilify video games, computer usage, phone/text/tweet... because of one person's immersion beyond the norm? I hope not. There are too many computer professionals who also love gaming, who could be the example of the other side of the story regarding what studies can show.
Just my thoughts on things like this.
