My ds is showing signs of his gall bladder acting up. He's 18. It started with just a little ache there but now it's bothering him more. Especially after eating, of course. Is there anything natural I can do?? I hate to see him have surgery for this at such a young age.

First choice, of course, is a low fat vegan diet.
The gall bladder helps process fat - the more fat, the more stress to the gall-bladder.
Even if he can't bring himself to go vegan, greatly reducing fried and very high fat foods (like bacon double cheeseburgers) might help a lot.
Second choice is to get some digestive enzyme products from a supplement provider or health food store. (CLW comes to mind)

Also, these problems are usually and over-40 thing. Since he's so young, if it keeps up, check with a doctor, too.

I will, Anna. I know of several teens that have had this problem. It seems like they are getting it younger and younger because of their diets. My cousins dd had hers out at 16!! That was just last year.

Stunning. They've been seeing artery damage in 18 year olds since at least the Korean war, so I shouldn't be too shocked. But still. 16?

My oldest dd had her gall bladder out at 15. We were so opposed to removal of anything, but after many years of symptoms that seemed unrelated, and 9 months of a severally damaged liver and symptoms that made no sense, a very large stone became stuck in her main bile duct and that is when the mystery was solved. Thankfully we had been working with a Naturopath who was helping her liver heal while we figured out what was wrong. Since the bile duct was larger than normal, and she had already sustained other organ issues, the decision was made to remove the gallbladder to prevent further issues.
The best thing we found for pain management was to soak a cotton cloth with castor oil, heat it up in the microwave, or the oil in a pan and then saturate the cloth (as warm as he can stand without it burning the skin) put the cloth over the area, cover with plastic wrap and then a towel. Leave it on an hour. Remove. This draws toxins out and relieves pain. This can also be done for menstrual pain as well. It really made all the difference for my dd since she could take no pain relieving medicine due to her liver damage.
Diet is very important as well, so definitely low/no fat (if eating meat - hormone free for sure) and fresh fruits, fresh veges, rice was also on our dd's diet.

Wow Pam, I had no idea your dd went through all of that! I told ds about his diet (he's very meat and potatoes kind of guy!) so he can start watching what he eats from now on. He's not happy, lol! He's just started with symptoms maybe 2 weeks ago? They are mild. (I had my gallbladder removed nearly 10 years ago so I know what to look for.) I don't have any castor oil but I'll get some!! Thanks! Of course, if he gets worse of this goes on I'll get him to the doctor.

Tory, you may want to consider doing a gall bladder cleanse for him. I've been gone all day, but if you are interested, can share info with you about how to do your own gall bladder cleanse at home.

I have done a gallbladder cleanse. Not long ago. It was simple and worked. What got me was not being able to eat after 2pm. Otherwise it was not all that bad. I had a lot of tiny tiny looked like sand and a few green ones. Will consider doing it again before the holidays.

Clw, sorry I'm just getting back to this thread. Thank you, yes, I'd like more info on the cleanse. He seems better over these past few days but that could just be from him being distracted and not thinking of it as much.
