From Jeff Norvick site

http://www.cspinet.org/nah/articles/coconut-oil.html

I got rid of my coconut oil.
I use applesauce in place of oil when baking, and use broth when cooking, I do not fry anything in oil.

To me oil is an oil is an oil.

Just thought this might interest someone.

Thanks! That was a very informative article. I don't use coconut oil myself, but it is nice to hear where the science stands on this topic.

I had always thought that it was not good for you because it does solidify and would do the same in your arteries. I know a lot of people that use it to make candy that you have to keep in the ice box. Claim it helps them lose weight. I cannot see how.

I use butter once in a while or flavor.

My doctor says an oil is an oil, a sugar is a sugar, a salt is a salt. All the fancy labels just cloud the issue.

Wow the article says they were given 2 TBS each day!
I think "any" oil at that amount is unhealthy.

I totally agree that all kinds of oils can be harmful for your hair but I found coconut oil and olive oil very amazing for hair problems.
Here are some of the tips and remedies that you'll find really effective.
Coconut oil is pretty good for damaged hair, it makes it more soft and silky.

For a great hair treatment/conditioner try 1 egg yoke, 1-2 Tbsp Olive Oil, and 2-3 drops Vitamin E. Combine these, wet hair, mix combination into hair. Let set for 3-5 minutes, feels/looks/smell strange but it works so well. Wash out with shampoo.

Comb olive oil through the dry parts of your hair, and towel dry. Put a towel on your pillow, and leave the oil on overnight. Shampoo it out in the morning. This worked well when I had no money for good conditioner. Olive oil is actually great for everything--skin, hair, nails--be careful with extra virgin, though, because it smells weird.

Wash your hair with chamomile, rosemary, sage, or yucca tea to restore shine and vigour.

For soft hair use olive oil, it in crease shine too. All you have to do is 5 min before you shower pour a small amount olive oil in your hand and work threw hair, roots to tips. When you shower all you have to do is shampoo, and the oil is gone and your hair is left soft and shiny. (Sunflower or vegetable oil works also). If you're wondering how to make your hair grow longer, just try these remedies.

I use oil for cooking but in small amounts. I put a small amount on a paper towel and coat the bottom of my pan. I do the same with butter. Even though I have no stick pans and I follow the instructions I still need something else to keep food from sticking. I make my own salad dressing using as healthy an oil as possible. I do not soak my salad with dressing. I use a minimal amount and toss it.
