Wow - a new chemical being tested that could eradicate all tooth decay!

Since we have a hereditary problem (one family member just had 16 decays at one checkup - and that's not unheard of for us!) this sounds great to me. I would love to think that my daughter didn't inherit that problem.

On the other hand, concepts like "new chemical" and "Added to our food supply" DO disturb me.

I hope it turns out to be something good, but adding it to food is a little worrisome. I think I have a hereditary problem, too. I was not raised to floss or use mouthwash, but after several dentist visits where the dentist kept telling me to floss, I finally got into the habit of flossing and using mouthwash every night. I still get cavities. I even got into an argument with one dentist because he had the nerve to say I didn't floss and I told him I did every night and he still didn't believe me and I almost got dh on the phone to back me up, lol. I was so mad.

My kids have each had one cavity and we've been flossing their teeth and using mouthwash since their teeth started growing in. And we dilute all their juice with at least half water, so they're not drinking straight up sugar all day.

Yeah, I hate it when dentists call me a liar, but they all do it with people like us. Don't take it too hard.
