I thought I'd post this on the healthy living board. Hope it helps anyone else with an elder cat. A few months ago my cat was exhibiting some unusual behavior, she decided she was going to sleep in the litter box So I had to get a second litter box. I bought her a new bed, new pillow, nothing...she wanted to sleep in the litter box. She became anti-social. Then she started pulling her hair out. I changed her food, something that has no soy or additives. She stopped pulling her hair out, but the behavior continued. She was loosing weight, her balance was off and would only come out to eat. She looked like an old cat ready to die.

I started adding a mineral supplement in her water http://realsalt.com/ . The next day she perked up. Its been about a month and she is wandering around the house now like normal, even sprinting. She is curling up in our laps and visiting with us. She is back to her old self again. Now I started adding it to our outside cat's water.

Hmmmm, she may have been getting some dimentia and or had an electrolyte imbalance and the mineral content in the salt helped stabilize her. Glad to hear she's doing better.

Fascinating! I used to use that brand of salt for cooking. I DO think it is a very nice product : )
