I think Laura posted quite a few of my suggestions, including some book recommendations. Does anyone know where I can find that link so I can rebuild my file?

I have no idea how to find the link, but the books are:

Thyroid Power

and

The Thyroid Diet

I cannot remember the names of the authors, though.

What I remember....(and this is primarily for people with an underactive - hypo - thyroid, as that is what I have!)

Your protein to carb ratio needs to be about 60/40 (more protein than carbs) And you need to make sure your carbs are the complex kind.

Wheat - even whole wheat - can cause problems, so you may want to limit, or gradually cut out - or cut down - on the wheat products. Same for sugar.

Stick mostly to foods on the low glycemic index as they are more friendly for hypo-thyroid people.

Avoid or limit cruciferous veggies (kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, etc) as they have a chemical that actually works against the thyroid. If you do eat these veggies, eat them in small quantities (like a 1/2 cup at a time) and make sure they are steamed or cooked as that helps to reduce the chemical (can't think of what it is!) which reduces the bad side effects. If you are hypER- thyroid, then you need these veggies!

Also, avoid green tea. Green Tea is high in fluoride and that is a bad thing for hypo-thyroid people.

That is all I can think of right off the top of my head this early in the morning!

Hope y'all have a good day!!
