Awhile ago, dh bro't up the idea of me letting HIM dictate my diet to me and he would give *me* the finances. I don't think he was expecting the quick excited answer I gave him! YES! He's had to mull it over and I took advantage of him in a weak moment yesterday to press the issue. As of today he is in control of my diet/portions. So far so good. I had an omelet for breakfast with one piece of toast, no butter, and coffee. (That was normal.) We had soup after church today for a time of fellowship and I got one bowl of soup. (I would've liked to had another bowl but that's ok.) He left and I I stayed gabbing with one gal but he decided to go to town on his Harley. So, now I'm getting hungry and I don't know what I can have! sigh

This may be a very good thing for me because I don't DARE cheat or he can take the finances back. I think I'd rather starve! Oh, he did say I could snack on carrots and celery and radishes.

It was kind of amusing to me when dh said no to my second bowl of soup. People tried to dish it up for me anyway and were a little take aback that he was telling me how much I could eat when he eats whatever he wants. hehehe We told them we'd made a deal but I just don't think they "get it".

You are way braver than I am. lol!
But as with any marriage, if it works for both of you, then I'm glad for you.
You do sound happy about it, but then I do understand how weird you are... ;)
lol!
I really can relate though, all joking aside. When my dh was alive I wish he had let me handle his eating. I think he'd have been much happier and healthier and we'd have saved a good bit of money also.
What do you hope to gain from this experience? Is it weight loss?? To feel better?? To let go of the control in your eating?? I'm just curious, you may ignore me if it helps. :)

My #ONE thing I expect to gain is getting back on track FINANCIALLY! That's more important to me even than losing weight! BUT,... knowing that my cheating at all could result in dh taking back the finances is the biggest motivator I can think of! So, for me, it's a win/win situation!!!

#2 is weight loss. I need new clothes and I HATE the reality that I will have to buy a bigger size if I don't stop it here. I have to update my driver's license in a couple of months. My class reunion is next year plus I will probably meet my "newest" brother AND my critical mother. I know I feel better lighter - I look SO awful right now.

My DH would never do that.
But I have changed what I eat.
I had two eggs with mushrooms and yogurt and tea this morning.
Will have a banana for a snack and tea
Lunch - Soup (funny you should mention that) I bought 20 cans yesterday. small green salad and raw veggies
Snack lemon with hot water
DInner Soup with half a two slices of turkey on ww bread sandwich.
S yogurt and fruit
will do this for a week and see how much I lose

I keep gaining and gaining no matter what I eat., Something has to work sooner or later.
WW did, but cost too much.
I get 1200 calories a day, have protein and calcium each day .

So, if you don't eat what he says, you don't eat? Is that what you mean by him taking back he finances? Or did you have another way of financing groceries before? Dh already gives me the money for groceries, so I wouldn't get anything out of an arrangement like that.

My, my, you ARE one brave woman. Hopefully, your hubby knows what kinds of foods and the proper portions that will aid in your weight loss, so it's an equitable deal for you. " )

My hubby is ALWAYS trying to get me to eat foods that aren't on my food plan and I constantly have to lovingly remind him that I am choosing NOT to eat potatoes, tortillas, or whatever it is he's pushing on me, so that wouldn't work for me. LOL

Hope you both find success in establishing your goals in this process.
Have you thought about how things will work once you've lost you weight? Like any weight loss program, it's important to have a plan in position that is good for the idividual losing weight, that they can stick to and they are comfortable with.

I am currently teaching Made to Crave at my church, and you might pray about considering going through that program, as it has really helped me discover some things about myself I didn't know existed until last year when I discovered this book.

I'll be praying for you, Sis.

Linda - have you put those foods in a tracker (or counted the carbs/calories) so you know how much you're getting? A tracker (like FitDay or SparksPeople) would also tell you proteins, fats, and certain nutrients.

Lisa - We've been on food stamps since January. :\ We only get $60 a month which is hardly worth it but is helping some for now. We were getting $200 til dgd left. But, we also use the checkbook to fill in and he worked around what we'd spend at the store. It's going to be rough for me since the fs amount has gone down so much AND I'll be paying more on bills, most likely. What it does is keeps him from spending or charging more so I can get stuff paid down. We get $800 a month (so $860 with food stamps). From what I have down so far, we have 9 bills to pay OFF and 9 that are regular monthly bills. That does include Netflix which can be cut but the rest are non-negotiable unless we get REALLY tight and then life insurance would have to go.

CLW - I'm not too worried about maintenance at this point. But, dh is talking to me about what foods *I* think are my problems and he's learning about carbs/fats/proteins. ehhehe He asked me if you get protein out of the fat on meat and I said no. He was surprised and saddened. ;-) I think he'll mostly listen to me but he'll keep me accountable. He even bro't me home a dark chocolate bar to eat at "my discretion" (or when I'm grumpy). ;-)

I'd say this is the first time in our 40 years that I would even hand the reins of MY eating over to dh. He doesn't want to disallow any particular foods except the ones I've told him I have a hard time not over-eating.

Well, it sounds like this will help open his eyes to how much you two do spend. It might be a win-win situation for both of you in the long run.
;)
(OK, classified question, here. Where do ya'll find the cute little icons? I don't see them anywhere?)

Thanks, Sis. I can only use the icons if I "edit" my posts for some reason. Probably has to do with the fact I use Google Chrome.

If the cuties don't appear on your reply, hit the full editor button just below the box. :) It's by the submit button. Or, I just typed the colon and parentheses and it came up smiling. hehe

Dark chocolate. On Ww's you can have 1/5 of a full sized Dove bar (not king sized)... and it's only 1 point on WW. So.. it's not hurting much of you eat a little at a time spread out over days. That's what I do when I have to have chocolate!

Your dh is a wise man to allow you this important nutrient.
