I've got a question for y'all:
When I go out for Mexican food at a family chain in Ohio, they have a Bean Burrito with a lovely red sauce over it. The sauce has a very mild flavor, mostly smooth with bits of onions and maybe some other veggies (green peppers?). It's not hot. It's not excessively acidic - even the tomato flavor seems more mild than, say, spaghetti sauce. There's no noticeable cumin flavor.
When I purchase Mexican sauces at the grocery - they have "Enchilada" (which is just all wrong for this recipe) and "Salsa" (again - not even close). I've tried making a variety of recipes for Mexican sauces, but most of them are WAYY heavily spiced compared to the restaurant's lovely sauce. The local restaurant, while good, doesn't do the burrito sauce as well as the Ohio restaurant does.
Any ideas on where to find a recipe that would mimic what I get at the restaurant?
I just had this for dinner tonight - at a restaurant. It was just like what you said, the best i've had actually.
