I've never made gumbo before. I saw a picture online of someones dinner, and it got me thinking. I have leftover chicken, sausage, and okra. Hmmm? So I googled a recipe.
I did add cabbage to it. I have plenty of cabbage, the kids love it, and its a good way to stretch a recipe.

I'm using my new crockpot that dd's boyfriend gave me. I can't wait for dinner because my house smells so good right now!

We have sausage and cabbage in a stir fry kind of meal often. We love it!! I make a pan of cornbread to go with it and my kids think I'm the worlds best mom, lol!

Tonight, the gumbo was good. Ds joked asking where's the shrimp?

Or, maybe it's like Chex cereal - you know - if you don't like Chex cereal, you've never tried Chex cereal.

There are SO many ways to cook it - I have trouble imagining not liking ANY of them. I find it's really good just sauteed whole with salt & pepper (& very light oil).
