Post subject:  Organizing

I'm trying to use my free time better. I've been organizing areas that I've put off. I already did the medicine cabinet in the kitchen. I threw out all old items, and there was a lot of expired items!

Then I replaced the good ones in order of importance. Now, when someone needs a bandaids, it's not only easy to find, but nothing else falls out of the cabinet!

Yesterday, I started in my room. I unloaded 2 craft boxes and sorted them down to one box. Today, I plan to use the empty box for sorting family photos. I've "inherited" all of my mom's pictures and I want to organize them so I can give them to other family members. I have plastic ziplocks labeled with family names and their photos are going into their ziplock. When we have our next family dinner, each will receive their surprise gift of photos.

I'm only keeping the ones I want, and giving away all others. This keeps family from always asking me for this or that photo of aunt Judy or Uncle Ben.
Copies will be up to them to get for further exchanges.

I'm trying to make my life simpler.

good for you Tory. I can never find anything since I had my stroke, cannot remember where I put stuff. I have about 4 large plastic containers in the corner of the bedroom and find out what is in them . I have a three tier little shelf that has containers in it that I need to find out what is in there. I have a lot of stuff I can get rid of . and I need to.

Oh yeah!? Well, *I* wanted to do some of that around my overflowing sitting area (where i'm at right now) but my "precious" dh invited people over after church and they just now left! sigh Thankfully he did the cooking and stuff but then he fell asleep and then after awhile he just said goodnight and left me there to wait it out til they left. No wonder i don't like having company over. :?

Somehow my craft 'box' has become 'boxes'. I have been very good at not buying anymore books unless I get rid of the same amount (do not want to buy more bookshelves). I encouraged dd's to raid my craft stuff. They didn't take enough. I like your picture sorting method. I have my mom's method, a box, well, boxes. Some are in albums. I also inherited my parents photos. I have already shared those with my siblings. This new house has a long hallway that I already made plans for a photo gallery. Where to start? At least I know now (thanks, Tory) what doesn't go up in the wall, gets sorted and distributed.

On the first aid kit, when my oldest dd was in Awanas, she had a project to assemble a family first aid kit. At first it was a little square storage box with a snap lid. It went on trips with us. It was packed full. Then I found a larger Johnson and Johnson first aid kit at a yard sale and filled it up. It goes with us on trips. Love having everything in one place, and portable.

Yesterday, dh wanted the titles to his big Chevy truck (1977?) and his Harley (1973). Later i discovered he exchanged them for a 1997 Land Rover!!! I like it so far - a good trade imo. He also got a pistol out of the deal. :) The best part is getting rid of 2 (non-running) rigs and replacing them with one that runs!! LOL Dh's idea of decluttering, i guess! We had to take it to town to try it out and get hamburgers for Memorial Day. :)

NOW today, i hope to do some serious organizing/decluttering in the bedroom!!!!!

My Grandmother got a photo pencil (they write in white) and wrote the family names on the family pictures. It's such a blessing now (30 some years later) that I know who I am looking at (at whom I am looking : ) when I look at a family pic! After all, recognizing Grandpa back in his 1913 boy scout uniform and knowing which one is which of his brothers is not a task I could accomplish now without her labels!

I know! Sadly, i've thrown out many pics with no notation. :(

Making slow progress. I have so much *weird* stuff that i want to keep but i don't know how or where to keep them so i can find them when i need/want them! :?

I guess i need more "containers". I have a 4" stack of 3x5's, another 4" stack of tiny notebooks and sticky notes, 4x6" file folders, bird diapers, and various paper products like graph paper, a list notebook, a hard bound 4x6 sketch journal, etc. I need them visible or i'll forget i have them or where they are.

I'm very slowly clearing out a small bookshelf and i could probably keep the notebook things there. I could hang baskets on the sides of my cubby, actually .... hmmm.

I have headphones for my Rosetta Stone program, a tape recorder for those rare times i need it, ... i dunno what all.

I'll continue to sort and then look for containers that work for me, i guess. I love the room i have now; i feel like i can breathe again!

But NOW i need to go thru my laundry baskets and look for things that go upstairs. Mom's missing a couple of socks and i know there are a few other things that go up there - guest sheets and towels. What a (happy) mess!

Maybe this will give you some inspiration : )

I took off from this post a while back and used empty tea boxes to organize things in bathroom & kitchen drawers (qtips, tape, etc)

You might be able to use some similar idea for your post-its & earphones : )
