My mom saw this advertised and decided to get one. You can cook in it without fats. I was skeptical so made eggs in it. No oil - no sticking! We've used it quite a bit and are very happy with it. Just tho't i'd give a review on it here for anybody that might be interested and skeptical. |

Cooking directly in copper is usually considered unsafe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copper_toxicity I think copper ALWAYS has to have some sort of coating to protect it from direct contact with food - so it may simply be a good nonstick coating (which is to say, the same chemicals that are on other nonstick pans) that keeps the eggs from sticking. |

I read up on it, too, and it seems it's very unlikely that you would get a toxic level of copper from cooking with it. It's made with copper & ceramic and is "PFOA & PTFE Free". |

"PFOA & PTFE Free". Have no idea what THAT means? Whatever happened to ENGLISH? Anyhow - if it's lined, I agree, it's probably safe. Lots of prof. Chefs use copper pots. And, my favorite Revere Ware pans are Copper clad. But, it's probably the lining that is the nonstick thing- not the copper - if that makes sense. |

We have ceramic, too, and the non-stick coating doesn't last too long, at least that's my experience with every set of pans we've bought. What brand is it? |

Mom uses it quite a bit so we'll see how long it's non-stick. From their website: Cerami-Tech Non-Stick Coating •Stainless Steel Induction Plate •PTFE & PFOA Free •Dishwasher Safe |

I checked out the website - it DOES look like a handy pan : ) It looks great to have that great stovetop capacity, be able to bake in it, etc (altho, I'm REALLY cheap and would balk at the price ; ) But, it's not copper at all - just copper colored - so no need to worry about copper toxicity (aluminum, OTOH, is another question - but I readily use aluminum pans here : ) http://www.copperchef.com/faq.php |

Makes me glad that I invested in cast iron skillets years and years ago. Its almost all I cook in. The 10-inch skillet makes perfect steamed rice AND baked cornbread in the oven. |

While cast iron pans have their uses, i don't like using them. I've *never* had one that everything didn't stick to. Impossible to flip an egg over "easy". |
