I'd heard both that there are 3 teaspoons in a tablespoon and that there are 4. I happened across this tidbit this morning!

1 Tablespoon = 3 Teaspoons [US, UK or Metric]
1 Tablespoon = 4 Teaspoons [Australia]
If you need to convert these units for cooking recipes from different countries, for precise measurement and to avoid the surprises, it is important to know what kind of tea and tablespoons you are converting. :ugeek:

I had NO idea that Australia had their own, *different* measuring system! WHY???!!!

But, good to know - because I do read various cooking blogs from there - and it's good to be warned : ) Thanks!

AHA!

Apparently they *use* metric, but sometimes use our cooking terms for their measuring devices! (btw - there are many inaccuracies on this site - so this is only a tentative opinion ; )

Aha is right! The bread recipe calls for 1 1/2 T salt and yeast. I usually just put my thumb over half the T and call it good. :)
