I also have a brown thumb. sigh Dh does pretty well, tho'. I told him I'd like to try to grow the things we actually EAT and are expensive to buy instead of taking up space with onions and potatoes. The garlic we grow is SO superior to the store bo't that it's still a good investment. Actually, we just replant bulbs from the harvest so it doesn't cost anything.
He got some Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cabbage for me to play with.
He also got the little baby golden tomatoes that our family loves. I would grow a whole garden of just tomatoes if we got good crops. It's a bit too high/cold here to count on good tomato crops.
He also plants peppers for salsa.
