We tried last year to grow a small garden in containers but only got one yellow squash, lol!
So this year, dd and I will try again.

Is anyone else growing a garden?
I'm thinking of trying on a slightly bigger scale this time and actually tilling up an area in the fenced in front yard, instead of using containers.

Does having bags of mulch stacked up on the front lawn count? Then yes. Got to see if we can resuscitate the plants from our multiple freezes. I think my aloe vera will come back. The easter lilies my dad gave me are gorgeous. We are sprucing up to put the house on the market. Want to sell by summer. Roof is next. So no veggie garden. I do have an herb garden.,

I also have a brown thumb. sigh Dh does pretty well, tho'. I told him I'd like to try to grow the things we actually EAT and are expensive to buy instead of taking up space with onions and potatoes. The garlic we grow is SO superior to the store bo't that it's still a good investment. Actually, we just replant bulbs from the harvest so it doesn't cost anything.

He got some Brussels sprouts, broccoli and cabbage for me to play with. :) He also got the little baby golden tomatoes that our family loves. I would grow a whole garden of just tomatoes if we got good crops. It's a bit too high/cold here to count on good tomato crops.

He also plants peppers for salsa.

Mine is growing pretty well, which surpises me!
I did get some pine straw to put around the plants finally. I put that out a few days ago.
I have noticed a few leaves being eaten by something, so I'll need to put something on the plants to keep the bugs away.
Is there anything natural I can do?
Also.. this has turned into MY garden, as dd hasn't helped me at all. :(
Oh well...

I used to do the early morning bug plucking, insecticidal soap helps with aphids that are too small to pluck. My big problem here is bunnies. The dogs used to keep them in check. Chicken wire is helping.

Briva, I've looked and can't see what it is. :(
SO I'll spray with the ansecticidal soap. I've worked too hard to give my veggies over to the bugs!
I haven't seen any rabbits but I have cats so I think they must keep the rabbits away.
I'll cry if anything eats my garden, lol! This is the first garden I've had in 8 years that's actually growing something!
