We have had to get down in the floor and search for the missing pieces several times. I can only recall once that we couldn't find one piece! Aggravating for sure!

I've never counted the pieces beforehand, so it might be a pain, but stiil less time consuming than putting the whole thing together to find out one's missing. Maybe I'll do it in increments, like count 100 each day, lol!

I can't see counting the pieces for us!

 Good counting to 10 skills for the dc.... makes piles of 10 pieces, they can then practice skip counting up to 100... then make piles of 100's... after 10 piles of 100's you're all set!!
You can work on your puzzle and still count it as homeschooling.

Of course, if you're feeling mischevious, you could stack em in piles of 7 for the skip-countin exercise ; )

I am thinking of giving up on the mountian scene puzzle. I can't figure out where the last ones go. I have it almost put together except in the middle section there are trees.. tons of them. All of the pieces look alike as far as color. Ugh.
I hate to give up and not finish it but it's stopped being fun a while ago.
I am thinking of stopping it and moving on to the castle one I want to try.. however... looking at it, it has even more trees than the mountian scene!!
What to do? What to do? :?

Ahhh. Even tho' they look alike, do they all fit together? Unless there's a LOT left you could always try the hunt and fit method - try one piece in every direction, then try another piece? Challenge your kids to finish it? The winner gets to pick what kind of pizza's for dinner? ;)

Bummer. Maybe if you just put it away for awhile it will fall together next time you try. I've had that happen many times!
