My wife's birthday is coming up. She is spending a lot more time in the backyard with the kids and frequently she would sit on the porch in the shade reading while the kids ran around in the yard. She was sitting on a lawn chair, but the previous owners had a porch swing and the mounting points are still there. Yesterday I took the day off and got our 6 year old daughter to help me assemble a new porch swing out in our shed. Our daughter got to use a socket wrench, screw driver, cordless drill, etc. and is excited about the project. (we have some friends who are going to watch our kids tomorrow while we go to lunch and a movie and they are going to hang the swing to surprise my wife when we return).

I want a porch swing as well. I love them! I hope to add a covered porch to the front of our house when I graduate from the RN program, then we can have a porch swing. I love to sit outside during storms when the wind is blowing and it feels like the beach. It's so soothing.

She really liked it. She sits out there and swings and reads while the kids play in the back yard.
