Dd loves Nestle cocoa in packets, they were 8 for $1, the same size box now only has 6 packets.

Still 6 for a $1 is not a bad deal, but I am going to cut off this indulgence and make her cocoa from real cocoa.

Our Kroger frozen vegetables used to be 16 ounces. Now they're 12 ounces, but the price is the same : (

It's a real bummer when most recipes call for a 1# bag, and you have a 12oz bag!

I've noticed that, too, Briva. Many items have "shrunk" by ounces, volume, etc (Mayonnaise, for example, used to come in 32 oz jars....now it is 30 oz jars.) And like Anna said, frozen veggies....the ones that used to be 16 oz are now 12-14 oz.

The price sometimes stays the same, but more likely, it is even higher, for less stuff!

And the food manufacturers think they are pulling the wool over our eyes.
Consumers ARE noticing!

Better to buy in bulk to maximize your savings. ; )

Of course, my Mom complained of this for my entire childhood. Especially with candy bars - she said they were tiny compared to those of *her* childhood.

Sometimes I think I'm getting a deal and then realize the package is smaller than I'm used to. I have noticed that sometimes the items at the dollar store with be smaller or have less in them than other stores too, so you're not really getting the deal you think you are.

Absolutely true! That's a VERY common trick at the dollar stores! You might buy a bottle of medicine for a dollar and discover it has 20 pills - but you can buy the same type pills at the grocery for 2cents each.

Yeah well, we just ate at Arby's and got 2 French dips for $5 but there's was DEFINITELY less au jus than there used to be. We ran out! I sopped up the last bit with my last bite so it wasn't too bad but I would've preferred a couple more tablespoons.

getting smaller and charging more. I know that hambuger helper boxes are half the size they were , heck I can cook my own pasta and sauces and the meat and get a lot more to eat.

Happened to come across this just after dd noticed the mac and cheese boxes. I like to buy the kids Kraft mac and cheese boxes to make on their own on nights the grownups are eating something "awful" or otherwise are eating on their own. They now have to make TWO boxes to fill them up, even with a veggie side. (They're only 7 & 9.) I happened to pick up a store brand last time and ONE box was made.... and there were leftovers. And yes, they liked it. Hmmm.
