Basically, it includes no grains of any kind.I've pretty much given up wheat products and have noticed that I only have joint pain the day after eating some type of wheat. DD's boyfriend's parents gave up wheat and have lost a substantial amount of weight. My understanding is that wheat was hybridized sometime around the 1940's and it is now very unhealthy stuff. Interesting!

I'm following something similar. Like Primal, Paleo... I gave up all grains, sugar, legumes, and dairy 2 months ago. I have lost 20 lbs without doing anything except allowing my body to heal by not putting into it things that it does not handle well. I am able to have a little cheese now with no ill effects. I am going to try good yogurt soon as well.

When I tried some pizza crust recently, all my bloaty, gut issues returned. I tried a little icecream (a very little) and my gut issues returned. I tried some potatoe chips (flavored) and got a headache from the chemicals almost immediately. Now that I tried the three things that I thought I missed, I don't miss them. It feels better to feel better. I am sleeping better as well, and that has been a big issue for a long time now. I will be having my iron checked soon to see if I am as deficient as I used to be. Hopefully my body can absorb it better now that my gut is healthier.

That's cool! Congrats on the 20 pounds!

I gave up dairy years ago when it started abusing my gut; however, I can eat products made from my own cow's milk. I haven't managed to give up sugar. :0( Definite;y need to work on that.

I am currently reading Wheat Belly and thinking I need to go with alternatives. Even organic wheat is not what it once was. I'm not tempted to cut grains out of my diet completely though. I am more concerned with keeping dairy and meat out. I feel terrible after eating meat - slow, sluggish, and I get horrible, burning pains in my left shoulder. When I don't eat meat, I feel great. I am finding out what a beast perimenopause is though, so that's why I'm leaning toward alternative grains. PM caused me to pack on pounds that will absolutely not go away, all in the stomach. One of the things I hoped to get out of doing taekwon-do was weight loss. It hasn't happened. My entire body is much more toned and fit, but the extra PM pounds in the stomach are going nowhere. I'm willing to try wheat alternatives to see if that makes a difference because a pure vegan diet (which included wheat) did not.

The more I look at this the more it looks in line with Atkins. Hmmm.

Are you doing natural beef? I'm wondering if it's the hormones and additives that are getting you.

Me? Yes, everything was organic with beef being not only organic but also grass-fed (I've been organic for almost 11 years now). The lady who cuts my hair also has this same pain problem when she eats meat. I happened to mention it to her in passing, and she was the one who convinced me to see what would happen if I eliminated it from my diet. Every time I have let it slip back in, the pain starts again. It really doesn't bother not having it in my diet as I don't really care for meat anyway.
