Sometimes people comment on what I'm purchasing. I do shop organic and do manage to find some things on sale at our local grocer with online organic coupons. I always take advantage of the sales and stock up when finances permit, rotating my stock. Sometimes people ask me questions about my purchases, while other times they don't. They usually comment when I get items for free or nearly free, combining store and manufacturer coupons to get the best deal, wherever possible. It doesn't bother me is someone asks something, as I am a chatty person most days, and don't mind sharing how I find good deals.

I also shop with Azurestandard.com co-op once a month. They go all over the Southwest and then some. Not sure what state you live in, but you might want to check it out. It is a working co-op and everyone helps unload one another's order.

I checked them out years ago, but they don't come to FL. I order in bulk from one of our local natural foods markets. If I pick the order up on a Sunday, they give me an additional 10% off with a coupon code. They have great bulk prices anyway, so the 10% off is a nice bonus. I have ordered from Bread Beckers as well, but by the time I add in shipping charges and a lengthy drive to pick it up it's way cheaper for me to just do what I've been doing.

I go to ALdi's and buy up crackers, cereal, fiber bars, canned goods. No one ask me what I am doing. I like to have extra food that does not need to be in the ice box. Canned tuna, chicken, etc.
I look at it this way, unless they are limiting the amount of food, it is none of their business.
I also buy for the food center here in town.

6 cans of anything is a drop in the bucket, in my opinion! I would've noticed perhaps 15 cans of something, but I wouldn't have "thought" anything and certainly not said anything. I sometimes wonder if people wonder why I buy what I buy, but I've got 3 kids hanging off of my most trips and probably look pretty unfriendly by check out time. :( The Publix people probably think I starve them because I buy our meat, staples, dairy, and bulk items at the wholesale stores.

Maybe I'm weird - I *enjoy* it when someone says "What's that vegetable in your cart?" And then asks me what to do with one of those. I like making small talk about cart contents - it really never occurred to me that anyone would be offended.

Oh it's not weird one way or the other--just personal preference, in my opinion. I'll bet you look a lot more friendly in the check out line than I do!

We have a small family & I don't do disaster-preparedness as such, but I often buy large quantities- 6 to 12 of the same thing. I just don't like hitting all the stores every week. I go to Kroger across the street for frequent shopping (fresh tomatoes, for example), but then I hit Aldi's for stock up, and a variety of specialty/ethnic stores for special items at good prices.

I can't remember anyone commenting or giving me looks for the amount of stuff I have - but I do get a lot of questions about types of food "I've always wondered about Tofu - how do you cook it?" sort of questions. And I enjoy that sort of chit-chat.

Likewise, sometimes I see the person next to me in line has all the ingredients for chili, or for fudge, and ask them if that's what they're planning.

Just because you buy a lot of food does not mean you are using it right then.,
I buy a lot of canned goods, flour, sugar, cooking and baking items. But I am not using it right then.
If paper product are on sale I stock up. I guess a lot of people do not so they have to comment when they see a person come through the line with more items than the usual person.

It is no ones business. Just say you have a lot of family members, or you give half of it away, They will be quiet.
I buy extra when on sale and give to the christian care center here in town.
