Of all the places I've lived, I've never seen anything that compares to Winco. They only have it in a few states, but it's expanding and the day they open one near us, I will be dancing in the streets! Once you shop there, it's hard to shop anywhere else.

According to their site, there is no store in 500 miles of my house. So, I probably won't shop there much ; )
It looks like their business model is VERY different from Aldis. Aldi has a limited selection (only best sellers - so no eggplant or agave there), sells mostly their own brand, and doesn't take coupons or credit cards. You bag your own groceries, return your own cart. Those kind of things really keep the prices down. BUT, when you want eggplant & agave, you do have to go somewhere else!

You're right about bagging your own groceries. Winco also has you bag your own groceries and their prices are ridiculously low. That and their bulk section are my favorite things about it. I wish the stores around here would get a clue and follow their example.

I absolutely hate bagging my own groceries.
Anna... as for eggplant... can you please share on the recipe board an easy, tried and true recipe? I've never had it, so keep that in mind, lol! But I'm curious and wanting to taste it.

I LOVE Eggplant! And so does DD. The first time I ever made it for her - when she was an infant - I pureed it in the food processor to make a dip, and I gave her what was left. She cried when it ran out!
I have SO many eggplant recipes -and it's very versatile. I have curry, parmesan, baba ganoush, grilled, caponata, well, you get the idea. Every one is unique - so like the old chex cereal commercial - if you don't like eggplant, you've never tried eggplant! ; )
