Some of you may have already tried this recipe, but just had to share the GREAT success with it!!!

My bathtub was so grimy and dirty.....a good cleaning was long over due.
I usually use Lime Away and then Ajax.
I'm trying to steer away from chemical cleaners, so I dug out my book, Clean House, Clean Planet.
I found a recipe for tub and tile and it worked efficiently, and effortlessly!!!
I couldn't believe it.
I barely had to use any elbow grease to get the grime off.

I also, felt horrible, thinking about all the times I had unnecessarily used harsh chemicals, that were a danger to my family & the environment.

I know it may sound silly, but I almost felt like crying, thinking about how far we have come from the good, simple, ways of the past; to now polluting and killing ourselves with toxic garbage. We have been so deceived in so many areas of our lives, it breaks my heart.

Tub & Tile Cleaner

1 2/3 cups baking soda
1/2 cup liquid soap, not detergent - (I used Dr. Bronners)
Dilute with 1/2 cup water
Add 2 Tbsp Vinegar - (White distilled)

Stir until lumps are gone.
You don't want it too, thick.
Poor into 16oz, squeeze bottle, with opening as large as your dish soap, otherwise it will clog.
Shake well before using.

Squirt the cleaner anywhere; tub, toilet, sink......it works GREAT!!!

Would a liquid hand soap work?

Liquid hand "soap" is usually really detergent. Bronners and a few other "liquid CASTILLE soaps" are the only exceptions I know.

This works very well!

It didn't work as well in the upstairs shower. I need something super strong for that shower! We have VERY hard water and it looks awful... I would be soooo embarrassed for anyone to see it. It's just awful!

Laurajean, what kind of soap did you use? I haven't been able to find Bronners here either.

On the kitchen sink and on the bathroom sink, and of course on the bathtub....(though NOT every day there!)
I LOVE THE SCENT TOO!
I always used AJAX....but NOT anymore!
I'm so grateful!

Laurajean,
For your hard water stains, you might try what I did some years ago when we had a place with that problem. It was a temporary residence, and had been let go WAY too long. I covered the bottom of the shower with paper towels, then saturated the towels with full strength vinegar. I let it stand for about an hour, then the marks scrubbed easily away with a scratchie or brush (I don't remember what I scrubbed with, but I remembered it was easy : )

I actually did find Dr. Bronner's liquid soap. I ordered it online through a link that CLW gave to me. I can't recall it right now, but I will let you know when I find it!

I am going to try that, Anna. I have used vinegar before, but I haven't thought to let the bottom of the shower soak with paper towels. Although I need to find a way to soak the entire shower!!! I may also try apple cider vinegar. I ran some through my dishwasher with some glassware that had accumulated spots that wouldn't wash away, and it worked like a charm!
