Glad to see it go - at least from some radio stations.

But, it's not about "#Metoo" - it's about the promotion of an anti-Christian morality.

I'm always horrified to hear this played in public places, with children listening.

The other day I heard it in the Christmas Music played on Christian Radio! Does no one listen to what they're playing?

It's catchy and fun with the two-parts but YES! I agree! We hear it come on the bank radio and cringe. (Actually, there's another one that has a part i hate, too.
" In the meadow we can build a snowman
Then pretend that he is Parson Brown
He'll say: Are you married?
we'll say: No man
But you can do the job")

when you're in town

Well, the latter song I always interpreted as a young couple fantasizing about marrying soon (not pretending they were married when they weren't - tho I understand that it could be heard either way)

On the first one, I do like the melody and the rhythm. If the words were different, it might be a nice song : ) But, since they're not, it's just a dreadful bit of garbage. :geek:

I'd be happier if I never heard it again :)

I'll try to think of the 2nd one that way. Altho' i might feel compromised. :?

Oddly, it never occurred to me to think of it as anything BUT a fantasy about marrying one day until someone *recently* pointed out to me the possible other meaning! I think since I heard it as a child so many times, I just naturally gave it an innocent interpretation : )

Really? There are many things i always heard as a child that i was shocked to "hear" as an adult. LOL

Oh, yeah - there are THOSE, too!

I guess I can't imagine anyone mentioning the "Parson" when they're up to immorality. Usually they don't want to think about him, right then!

(with the exception, of course, of Parsons who are, themselves, unworthy of their ordination - that's another group!)

My late Father (the Parson, of Blessed Memory) used to leave parties early because "I know they can't start having fun till I leave ; ) "

Sis, you minded me why I only saw Dumbo (disney movie) with my kids once. Then I threw the tape away.

Then there's the old movies...I love Audrey Hepburn but the 'classic' Breakfast at Tiffany's was awful bad.

Sometimes i feel like it's a test! Do you "love" it so much you're willing to endure with the bad parts? Sadly, i find myself doing that. I am such a stickler in so many ways and yet i know i compromise a lot! Sometimes i don't realize it and then, .... sometimes i'm willing to!

What was in Dumbo?
