http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/09/26/air-force-squadron-spends-56000-on-metal-coffee-cups.html

Back in my day, we drank COLD coffee, if it came to that. But truly, the coffee was SO bad, that after I had been in for a while, I stopped drinking coffee entirely, despite the fact I have been addicted since toddlerhood.

These young whippersnappers are spoilt!

It's hard for me to keep reading when an article starts off with a sentence like this:

"An Air Force squadron spent almost $56,000 to replace broken just dozens of metal coffee cups over the past three years, in the latest example Pentagon procurement pricing irregularities."

To replace "broken just dozens"? What is the purpose of the comma after years? Shouldn't there be an "of" after "example"? Then to throw in $10 words like "procurement" to make you look smart?!!! Where's the "pulling my hair out" emoji?!!!!! Maybe that money should be spent on learning English!

I tho't my $30 Yeti cup was shnazzy!!! It's not even about being spoiled, it's about being stupid. Where is that money really going? It is NOT on coffee cups.

U gotta problim with wut they teech at jurnalizm skul now-days?

YOUR Yeti cup probably doesn't actually HEAT the coffee for you. and doesn't fit in some weird outlet that only is installed in certain airplanes. And doesn't fit THEIR cup holders!

Back in the 80's - you may remember - there was a similar scandal. I talked to a contractor who sold the stuff at the time, and he said that the military requires every tiny part to be custom made (they have to design a special rivet, for example, rather than selecting from the 1000s of sizes already available). Then each of those tiny parts has to have a special machine designed to make it. It's a preposterous waste - but it probably all DOES go to the actual coffee cup - and the plethora of custom designed machines to make it.

Sadly, commercial aircraft already have special coffee pots - they could buy those - and yeti cups to match - but they won't.

Oh - there was a whole series! toilet seats, hammers, what have you.

I DID watch Independence Day - but I don't remember very much of it at all. It was 22 years ago! (and it wasn't TOO memorable when it was new ; )

Funny, it's one of my favorite movies!!! LOL I have it on "clean films" so i don't know if there were things in the original that would keep me from watching it. I know most of the actors from other things which makes it feel like a "family" thing to me. I know, i'm weird.

I used to pray for the characters on the soap operas i watched. They were my FRIENDS!

What coffee?!? Last time I flew they didn't have coffee. Luckily I had purchased a bottle of water and a hummus and pretzel snack in the airport for $10.

Sheesh! They've down-sized candy bars and upped the price. And they've down-sized the airline service and upped the price. NO COFFEE?!!! :?

Yeah- on short flights, especially in the evenings - they refuse to make coffee. They have the machine, they just won't make it.
